DP World: The Move to Minus 15 Initiative
Winning the Titanium Lion at Cannes 2024 for Groundbreaking Sustainability
As a key member of the writing team for DP World’s “The Move to Minus 15” initiative, I helped produce the essential written components that explained the technical aspects of the project and engaged both the industry and the judges at Cannes. This initiative won the prestigious Titanium Lion at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in June 2024 and also received a Gold award in the Sustainable Development Goals category and a Silver in Creative B2B for Corporate Purpose & Social Responsibility.
The initiative redefined industry standards in the frozen food supply chain by challenging the century-old practice of setting freight cargo temperatures at -18 degrees Celsius. Our research, conducted with an international panel of experts, revealed that raising the temperature to -15 degrees could save 5-7% of energy and reduce carbon emissions by 17.7 million tons annually.
This simple yet transformative idea proved to be both cost-effective and safe for food preservation. It also united 60% of the global shipping container industry within days, forming The Move to Minus 15 Coalition. Our work set a new benchmark in sustainability, earning accolades for its innovation and significant impact on climate action.
